Negative Ions (Anions)
The air we breathe contains negative ions (anions) as well as positive ions (cations). Ions are atoms and molecules with an electrical charge of + or -. Negative ions can help us , positive ions can do harm.
Negative ions mainly occur in nature , for example after storms , in the forest or at waterfalls . They support the immune system by reducing the amount of free oxygen radicals / oxidative stress in the body.
Important to know: Negative ions neutralize positive (harmful) ions.
It has been shown that there are less than a third of negative ions in the air in large cities and urban environments compared to rural environments. This is also the reason why health clinics are located in nature, by the sea or in the mountains .
On average, we find between 200 and 500 negative ions per cm3 of clean air outdoors . In rooms there are only 100 to 200 , or even less. However , good health would require at least 400 to 1000 and more negative ions per cm3 .
Research suggests that concentrations above 1000 negative ions/cm3 are ideal for stable health .

Positive ions together with free radicals cause oxidation of cells throughout the body. They increase the acidity of the blood so that more lactic acid is produced.
Both the nervous and immune systems are weakened , leading to premature aging . All of these processes can ultimately lead to the development of tumor cells and cancer .
Positive ions are generated by radio and television masts, mobile phone antennas, smartphones and power lines, among other things .
